LES SHAKESPEARE RE-LAUNCH
11th March 2016

Our first year as a company saw the inception and development of Twelfth Night - part of our F*cking Up Shakespeare Series; Romeo & Juliet; and Arts in the Park - a free festival for all.

We've learned more about making art than ever before. Our biggest lesson was finding a way to manage the shear amount of work and costs that goes into producing three productions. It was an epic first season.

This year we've bitten off less in the hope that we can better allocate our resources while specifically focusing on maintaining the joy of the creation process.

We are proud of our accomplishments and excited to grow.

This brings with it a re-brand. So please, come and explore our new site!

LES SHAKESPEARE SIMULTANEOUSLY AWARDED A 2017 BARN ARTS COLLECTIVE & A HB STUDIO ARTIST RESIDENCY
11th March 2016

2017 has brought with it the opportunity to develop a new work.

BEE, a story created by Melody Erfani and written by Sean Michael Welch, focuses on the life & strength of Melody's Iranian Grandmother. It also weaves that tale with refugee stories to help bridge the growing cultural gap that contributes to discrimination.

We have had the pleasure of attending an artist residency in Maine, with The Barns Art Collective, over the summer. It is here that this story, 7 years in the making was starting to find it's legs. We are fortunate to be granted another residency with HB Studio in November to continue the development on this work.

We thank The Barns Art Collective and HB Studio for their support in this artistic endeavour. Without assistance we would not have the means to see this important work to fruition.

LES Shakes has won a Planet Connections Theatre Festivity award!

Planet Connections Theatre Festivity has awareded the Cast of Antigone the Outstanding Cast in a Play, Musical or One-Act Award for their 2016 Season.

We are so grateful for the experience of joining Planet Connections for our production of Antigone and thank all of our fellow shows for the quality entertainment throughout the festivities.
